Chartered Clinical Psychologist

About me
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 18 years experience working in the NHS as a Psychologist. I have worked with people across the lifespan but now focus on adults with mental health and well-being concerns. I can work with many of the difficulties that arise from modern city living, such as anxiety, depression, stress related concerns, low self esteem, parenting and relationship issues, domestic abuse and trauma, the psychological impact of physical health conditions and disabilities.

I offer individualised assessment, formulation and treatment of Psychological distress. I use an integrative model that may draw on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Video Interaction Guidance, Compassion Focused Therapy or Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to suit the individual. All of the therapies I use are based on a strong evidence base of research, and are time limited typically 6-16 sessions. Embedded within my practice is Systemic Therapy which considers the influence of the environment, age, gender, race, heritage, community and culture.

Due to current national health considerations I am offering online therapy at present. However my practice clinic for face-to-face when this becomes advisable again is in East London. Members of the LGBT community are welcome. I can offer work with adults as individuals or couples. I also offer parent/infant work as well as parenting support.

Training, qualifications and experience
My journey into Clinical Psychology started in Wales where I gained my Psychology Degree at the University of Wales, Swansea in 2000. I gained my PhD in Psychology from the same institution in 2005. I then went onto to train vocationally as a Clinical Psychologist. Clinical Psychologists are mental health professionals who have doctoral level training in working psychologically across the lifespan. I undertook my Clinical Doctorate at Cardiff University between 2005-2008. As part of my training and ongoing development I have attended therapy myself.

During my 18 years working as a NHS Psychologist I have worked in inpatient and outpatient settings. Most recently I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist in Community Mental Health Services at the Homerton University NHS Foundation Trust and for the East London Foundation Trust. During my career I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate students at Bath Spa University, City University and the University of East London.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) as a practitioner psychologist and as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
